Sodium-2-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propane-2-sulfonate, CAS 83682-27-3, is also known as alpha-4-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-alpha-methyl benzeneethanesulfonic acid, monosodium salt. The compound is a chemical intermediate used in the production of the pharmaceutical carbidopa. The imported compound consists of 30 percent Sodium-2-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propane-2-sulfonate, 10 percent sodium bisulfite and 60 percent water. Sodium bisulfite is necessary to prevent the decomposition of the aqueous solution. Chemical compounds with added stabilizers necessary for the preservation or transport of the product are allowed pursuant to Chapter 29 Note 1(f).

Sodium-2-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propane-2-sulfonate, CAS 83682-27-3, is also known as alpha-4-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-alpha-methyl benzeneethanesulfonic acid, monosodium salt.
