Dear Mr. Roll: In your letter dated June 5, 2006, on behalf of your client Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise under consideration is the Alcatel Logic Fuse Board. The fuse board is a replaceable modular unit measuring approximately ¾” x 5?” x 7½”. From the information you provided, the Logic Fuse Board is a plug-in module for submarine Power Feed Equipment (PFE), a system designed to power undersea repeatered cable network systems. The Logic Fuse Board module distributes electricity to various units within the system and houses fuses to protect the circuitry from excess current caused by faults on the control and monitoring circuits. The fuse board contains additional circuitry for connecting to an alarm unit that logs and displays fuse failures to the operator. The Logic Fuse Board is rated for use in 5 to 12 volt systems.
