West Maple Walled Lake, MI 48390 RE: The tariff classification of a fan from Taiwan. Dear Mr. Des Champs: In your letter dated January 30, 2013 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The item in question is an enclosed centrifugal fan with a 2.5 HP electric motor. After importation, an on/off switch is added and the fan assembly is hard wired into the circuit of a rapid air drying system. When the motor is turned on, the fan circulates air throughout an automobile painting booth to cure the paint faster and more evenly. The rate of duty will be 2.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
