Box 612627 DFW Airport, TX 75261 RE: The tariff classification of a leaf blower from Japan Dear Ms. Hallon: In your letter dated March 9, 2007 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client Maruyama US. The article in question is described as the Maruyama BL8100 Blower for use in landscaping and/or yard maintenance. The blower incorporates a fan driven by an internal combustion engine and is designed to clear ground debris, such as leaves and grass clippings, using volumes of air delivered at high velocities. Descriptive information was submitted. The applicable subheading for the leaf blower will be 8414.59.6060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other centrifugal fans. The rate of duty will be 2.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
