Dear Ms. Davidson: In your letter dated August 26, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The item is described as a removable replacement bag, for the chrome-plated steel laundry hamper by Umbra. The removable white bag is made of polyester and secures to the inside of the hamper by means of four Velcro flaps. Literature indicates that the item is functional and good-looking, and stylish enough to show off in either the bath or bedroom area of a home. The applicable subheading for the replacement bag that is part of the laundry hamper, will be 9403.90.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Other furniture and parts thereof: Parts: Other; Of textile material, except cotton.” The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
