Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of wall clocks from China Dear Ms. Ramsey: In your letter dated March 27, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. A sample of a quartz wall clock was submitted with the ruling request. The submitted item 65870 is identified as the country apple quartz clock. The clock is an analog wall clock with a quartz battery powered movement. The required one AA battery is not included. The clock has a round polystyrene plastic (clear plastic) case with polypropylene plastic borders. The paper face of the clock features a print of four apples. The clock’s hands are made of iron. The applicable subheading for the wall clock will be 9105.21.80, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other clocks; wall clocks; electrically operated; other. The rate of duty will be 30 cents each plus 6.9 percent ad valorem on the case plus 5.3 percent ad valorem on the battery. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
