Camp Hill, PA 17011 RE: The tariff classification of a garment bag from China. Dear Ms. Hodgson: In your letter dated January 14, 2003, you requested a tariff classification ruling for a garment bag. A sample of style number VE-FA03-3 has been submitted. The item is a garment bag designed to provide storage, protection, organization and portability for a garment. It is manufactured with an exterior surface of 100% nylon man-made material with a PVC vinyl interior lining. The bag is designed to be hung on a hanger and it is secured by means of a zippered closure down the center of the bag. Your sample is being returned as requested. The applicable subheading for Style #VE-FA03-3 will be 4202.92.3031, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for travel, sports and similar bags, with outer surface of textile materials, other, of man-made fibers, other. The rate of duty will be 17.8 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
