Box 278 Two Harbors, MN 55616 RE: The tariff classification of a tent pole bag from Korea. Dear Ms. Hollbeck: In your letter dated March 3rd, 2000 you requested a classification ruling. The sample submitted with your request is identified as "tent pole bag", CPC # 782922081007. The bag is specially shaped to hold poles for a tent that are approximately 40" long. The top opening is secured by a hook and loop closure and an adjustable strap of nylon webbing with a tuck lock closure. A "daisy chain" of nylon webbing is sewn to the top of the case that enables the user to attach the tent pole bag to another bag. The bag is made of an exterior surface of nylon fabric. The applicable subheading for CPC #782922081007 will be 4202.92.3031, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for travel, sports, and similar bags...with outer surface of textile materials, other, other, of man-made fibers, other. The duty rate will be 18.6% ad valorem. Items classifiable under HTS subheading 4202.92.3031 fall within textile category designation 670. Based upon international textile trade agreements products of Korea are subject to quota.
