Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of a charcoal grill from Taiwan Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated December 5, 1995, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise is a portable charcoal grill, item number 90903. It has a heavy gauge steel body and a chrome plated cooking grid. The grill measures approximately 14 inches in diameter. It features a lid with vent, an ash catcher, and 3 removable legs. The applicable subheading for the grill will be 7321.13.0040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for stoves, ranges, grates, cookers, barbeques, braziers, gas rings, plate warmers and similar nonelectric domestic appliances, and parts thereof, of iron or steel, cooking appliances and plate warmers, for solid fuel, portable, other. The rate of duty will be 3.4 percent ad valorem. For 1996, the rate of duty will be 2.5 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
