Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of a ceramic mug from China. Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated September 10, 1995, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample submitted is a ceramic mug, known as the "Goldline Designer Mug" (item number 960018), which measures approximately 3 3/4 inches high with a 3 inch top diameter and has a looped handle. Although the instant merchandise is noted to possess heart-shape designs surrounding its body, it will be imported, individually packed in a gift box, in six decorator designs. The applicable subheading for the "Goldline Designer Mug," item number 960018, will be 6912.00.4400, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other ceramic tableware...other than of porcelain or china...mugs and other steins. The rate of duty will be 12.8 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling letter or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
