Product description
, Fountain Inn, South Carolina. The merchandise is described in your letter as a solenoid (Part Number 5.36212.08.0). The solenoid, which is an actuating element, is incorporated into an exhaust gas control (EGR) valve for use in an automobile. The solenoid is an electrical subassembly made of steel, copper and plastic. When voltage is applied to the coil of the solenoid, it creates a magnetic field, which applies a magnetic force on the core. The core acts as an actuator within the EGR valve when the magnetic force pushes the core out of the body, opening or closing the valve as required. Once the voltage is removed an internal spring retracts the core back into the body of the solenoid.
