Product description
The items concerned are the custom solenoids referred to in your letter as (Part number 121e6101 and Part number 121e6540). Also submitted is an assembly drawing (33k1004) showing the custom solenoids linear in the paper path actuator. The solenoid (Part number 121e6101) measures approximately 4 ½ inches in length with an operating voltage of 24 volts DC. The solenoid (Part number 121e6540) measures approximately 3 inches in length with an operating voltage of 24 volts DC. The user of the copier actuates the solenoid when they choose a paper size on the top control panel of the copier by pushing a button. This in turn, actuates the solenoid corresponding to the paper size chosen. The solenoid performs its function by voltage being applied to the solenoid so that it raises the correct actuator for the paper size chosen. The center pin of the solenoid moves in (when voltage is applied) and out (when voltage is taken away).
CBP rationale
The applicable subheading for the solenoids (Part number 121e6101 and Part number 121e6540) will be 8505.90.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Electromagnets;…;parts thereof: Other, including parts: Other.
