Potassium acetate, CAS No. 127-08-2, a potassium salt of acetic acid, is imported in bulk for use in pharmaceutical, oil drilling, medical, dental and agricultural applications. The applicable subheading for Potassium acetate will be 2915.29.5000 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids and their anhydrides, halides, peroxides and peroxyacids; their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives: Acetic acid and its salts; acetic anhydride: Other. The rate of duty will be 2.8 percent ad valorem. This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which are administered by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
