Descriptive literature and a photograph were included with your submission. The item under consideration is described as a spring brake actuator for use within the air (pneumatic) brake systems of trucks, trailers, buses and transit vehicles. Based on the submitted photograph, the actuator is an air operated linear motor that converts compressed air into mechanical energy which in turn activates the brakes. The applicable subheading for the spring brake actuator will be 8412.31.0080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for pneumatic power motors, other linear acting cylinders. The general rate of duty is free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
