Headings: 5607
Product description
You submitted a piece of braided cord. In a telephone conversation with this office you identified the sample as item number 145200001. The fiber content is listed as 100% polyester. You describe it as a gimped cord. However, gimped yarn is defined, for tariff purposes, as being composed of a core, usually one or more textile yarns, around which other yarn or yarns are wound spirally. While this cord has a core of numerous plies, the covering yarns are not wound spirally around them. Instead, the core is sheathed with a braided yarn. A tightly braided or plaited yarn such as this is considered cordage of heading 5607, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), for classification purposes.
CBP rationale
