Clopidogrel is a prodrug, one of whose metabolites is an inhibitor of platelet aggregation. It is indicated for the reduction of arterothrombotic events for patients with recent myocardial infarction, recent stroke, established peripheral arterial disease, and acute coronary syndrome.
