Abiraterone Acetate, imported in 60 mg and 250 mg tablets, is a prodrug of Abiraterone and a structural analogue of a steroid hormone with anti-androgen activity. It is indicated for use in combination with prednisone for the treatment of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. In your letter, you stated the Abiraterone Acetate Tablets will be exported from India and the country of origin is China. The applicable subheading for the Abiraterone Acetate Tablets in dosage form will be 3004.39.0050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other, containing hormones or other products of heading 2937: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
