You submitted a 1.5-oz retail package of metalized textile strips, labeled Voila® Foil Shreds. The bag is filled with strips measuring 2 mm in width; the strips meet the dimensional requirements of textile strips contained in Section XI, Legal Note 1(g) of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). The strips are used for decorative purposes. You state that they are made of PET, a form of polyester, and have been electroplated with metal. The applicable subheading for the metalized textile strips will be 5605.00.1000, HTSUS, which provides for metalized yarn, metal coated or metal laminated man-made filament or strip or the like, ungimped, and untwisted or with a twist of less than 5 turns per meter. The rate of duty will be 7.5% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. Please note that we also received this ruling request in the electronic format and assigned it file number N114635. However, that file was canceled upon receipt of your letter with the sample.
