Dear Ms. Franz: In your letter dated May 22, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The item is described as a floor mop unit, which contains a telescopic aluminum pole, flat-swivel mop head, and twist pile micro fiber pad. It is designed for commercial use for floor cleaning. This item will be packaged in a polybag with a zip-tie closure, and 24 mop units will be enclosed within a master shipping carton. The applicable subheading for the floor mop unit, will be 9603.90.8050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Brooms, brushes, mops…: Other; Other; Other.” The rate of duty will be 2.8% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
