Liberati Morris Friedman & Co. 108 Erickson Ave. Essington, PA 19029 RE: The tariff classification of a housed ball bearing from China Dear Mr. Liberati: In your letter dated April 7, 2009 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Globe International Corp. A technical specification sheet and a sample were submitted. The sample will be retained by this office. The item in question is described as a one inch square flange mount steel ball bearing. This housed bearing is comprised of a cast iron four bolt square flange unit that houses a complete ball bearing. The bearing also includes a grease fitting/nipple with a plastic security cap. A grease gun attaches to the nipple and provides grease/oil that lubricates the bearing. The applicable subheading for the housed ball bearing will be 8483.20.4040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for flange housed bearings incorporating ball bearings. The rate of duty will be 4.5 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. You have asked whether this product is subject to antidumping duties or countervailing duties (AD/CVD).
