The subject product, Pinanediol, also known as Bicyclo[3.1.1]heptane-2,3-diol), 2,6,6-trimethyl-, (1S,2S,3R,5S)-, is a cyclanic alcohol. The product is indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading for Pinanediol will be 2906.19.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Cyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated, or nitrosated derivatives: Cyclanic, cyclenic or cycloterpenic: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 5.5 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUSA and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
