The articles in question are described as a ceramic shaft, part numbers 194-504 and 194-1244, and a ceramic seal, part number 110-258. The ceramic parts are for use in “00” series cartridge circulators, which are circulating pumps used in hydronic heating systems. Descriptive literature was submitted. In your request you offer that the subject parts are classifiable in subheading 6909.90.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other ceramic wares. However, the parts are more specifically provided for as ceramic wares for technical uses. The applicable subheading for the ceramic parts will be 6909.19.5095, HTSUS, which provides for other ceramic wares for laboratory, chemical or other technical uses. The rate of duty will be 4 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
