The product was submitted to the laboratory for analysis. N-(a-Cyano-p-hydroxy-a-methylphenethyl)-acetamide, CAS 31915-40-9, is a bulk pharmaceutical intermediate used in the production of Metyrosine. The applicable subheading for of N-(a-Cyano-p-hydroxy-a-methylphenethyl)-acetamide, CAS 31915-40-9 will be 2926.90.4400, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Aromatic nitrile function compounds: Other: Products described in additional U.S. note 3 to section VI. The rate of duty will be 8.6 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
