Dear Mr. Burke: In your letter dated May 16, 2001, on behalf of The Edwin M. Knowles China Company, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples submitted consist of the following unfinished ceramic plates of porcelain: item number 136, which is a coupe-shaped plate measuring approximately 8 ¾ inches long by 6 ½ inches at its widest point and featuring four pre-drilled holes on a raised back lip. item number 148, which is an oblong-shaped plate measuring approximately 8 ½ inches long by 6 ¼ inches wide and featuring four pre-drilled holes on a raised back lip. It is stated that after importation these plates will be subjected to a decalcomania process.
