Dear Mr. Currigan: In your letter dated March 17, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You describe your submitted sample as a channel nut. It is a rectangular stamped piece of steel, approximately 1¼” x ¾” in dimension, with an internal thread tapped through the middle. A helical steel spring is attached to the nut to provide a support against a channel prior to engaging a threaded rod.
