The submitted sample is a Christmas Carousel with musical Chimes, #PP-189654. This battery powered musical carousel stands approximately 17 inches in height. It has a base that measures approximately 7 inches in diameter. The carousel features a green and red painted canopy, with a small red-striped flag depicted flying from a flagpole located at the top. It plays 12 holiday melodies; Jingle Bells, Joy to the World, The first Noel, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Silver Bells, Angels We Have Heard On High, O Come All Ye Faithful, It Came Upon The Midnight Clear, O Little Town of Bethlehem, We Three Kings Of Orient Are and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. The canopy is decorated with raised hand painted depictions of carousel horses and a series of miniature clappers and suspended gold tone metal chimes of varying lengths. A full figured depiction of a carousel horse is affixed to a pole that extends from the base to the canopy. A switch located on the base activates the product and causes the canopy to revolve. The gold colored clappers hit the chimes in predetermined sequence. This product requires 4 size “C” batteries. The batteries are not included. The sample is returned as you requested.

Dear Mr. Epstein: In your letter dated September 8, 1999, on behalf of your client Avon Products, Inc., you requested a classification ruling. The submitted sample is a Christmas Carousel with musical Chimes, #PP-189654. This battery powered musical carousel stands approximately 17 inches in height. It has a base that measures approximately 7 inches in diameter. The carousel features a green and red painted canopy, with a small red-striped flag depicted flying from a flagpole located at the top.
