Dear Ms. Egan: In your letter dated December 7, 1998, received in this office January 7, 1999, on behalf of LTD Commodities Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted photo copy is that of umbrellas, called 30" Kids’ Critter Umbrellas. The umbrellas are funny face or animal face umbrellas. Item No. 47256 is a Kitty face umbrella and item no. 47257 is that of a frog. The umbrellas have a metal shaft and are made from nylon fabric with a carrying strap attached to the handle. The applicable subheading for the Critter Umbrella will be 6601.99.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for “Umbrellas and sun umbrellas (including walking stick umbrellas, garden umbrellas and similar umbrellas); Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be 8.2% ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
