Dear Mr. Agnew: In your letter dated December 13, 1993, you requested a tariff classification rulingon behalf of Dees Communications Engineering Ltd. of British Colombia, Canada. The merchandise is described in the submitted literature as the Centrex/Max and the Centrex Traffic Manager. The Centrex/Max is a contact management package consisting of both hardware and software. The product interfaces between Northern Telcom's Meridian Business sets and a personal computer. The hardware delivers the Calling Line Identification to the software where it is used to bring up the data base on the personal computer. The Centrex Traffic Manager is designed to monitor all the traffic on both single line telephones and Centrex Multi-line telephones (Northern Telecom's Meridian Business Set). The rate of duty will be 8.5 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
