Dear Mr. Slagle: In your letter dated April 30, 1993, on behalf of your client, Fine Arts Marketing, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples submitted consist of the following: a) a round porcelain music box, item number MDC 293807, with a removeable lid that possesses a decal depicting a Christmas scene. It measures approximately 1.75 inches high with a 3.5 inch base diameter and has a mechanical movement, incorporated into its bottom portion, which is concealed with a velvet fabric attached to a cardboard backing. The rate of duty will be 9 percent ad valorem. Articles classifiable under subheading 6913.10.5000, HTS, which are products of Sri Lanka, are entitled to duty free treatment under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) upon compliance with all applicable regulations. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
