Box 92641 Los Angeles, CA 90009-9901 RE: The tariff classification of a box from Taiwan. Dear Mr. Ricks: In your letter dated April 23, 1990, on behalf of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Bentonville, Arizona, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample submitted is an oval shaped box, item# T8914. The box has two parts, a lower section and a lid. Both are constructed of cardboard covered with textile material with interiors padded with foam and covered with textile material. It measures approximately 5 inches in diameter and 2 1/4 inches in height. The lid has a braided cord and lace trimming around the top edge. On the top of lid is attached a textile flower with ribbon bows. The applicable subheading for the box will be 6307.90.9550, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up article...other, other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
