Mason LTD Commodities, LLC 2800 Lakeside Drive Bannockburn, IL 60015 RE: The tariff classification of an outdoor power strip with timer from China Dear Mr. Mason: In your letter dated February 22, 2005 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The outdoor power post with timer, item 684119-10PZ, features three outlets, a timer, a stake for staking the device into the ground, and a 5-½ foot electrical cord. There are five settings on the timer: dawn to dusk, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours and 8 hours. The outdoor power post with timer allows the user to pre-set times for holiday light displays. You state that the outdoor power post with timer is valued over $5 each. The applicable subheading for the outdoor power post with timer, item 684119-10PZ, will be 9107.00.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for time switches with clock or watch movement or with synchronous motor, valued over $5 each. The rate of duty will be 45 cents each plus 6.4 percent plus 2.5 cents per jewel. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
