Issued December 15, 2004 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Tariff classification
HTS codes: 8413.50.0090
Headings: 8413
Product description
In your request you offer that the pump is properly classified in subheading 8467.91.0100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for parts of chain saws. However, we find that the oil pump is more specifically provided for in HTSUS heading 8413, which provides for pumps for liquids.
CBP rationale
The applicable subheading for the oil pump will be 8413.50.0090, HTSUS, which provides for other reciprocating positive displacement pumps for liquids.
