Iron Sucrose Injection, imported in 50 mg/2.5 mL, 100 mg/5 mL, and 200 mg/10 mL single-dose vials, is a sterile aqueous complex of polynuclear iron (III)-hydroxide in sucrose for intravenous use. It is an iron replacement drug indicated for the treatment of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) experiencing iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The applicable subheading for the Iron Sucrose Injection in dosage form will be 3004.90.9291, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments… consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
