The subject product is called Duroquinone. It is a chemical intermediate imported in bulk form. It has the chemical name of Tetramethyl-p-benzoquinone; 2,3,5,6-Tetramethyl-1,4- benzoquinone (CAS # 527-17-3). You provided a chemical structure and the following information on the product. Synonyms: Tetramethyl-p-benzoquinone 2,3,5,6-Tetramethyl-1,4-benzoquinone Formula: C10H12O2 Molecular weight: 164.20 g/mol CAS-No.: 527-17-3 EC-No.: 208-409-8 The applicable subheading for Duroquinone (CAS# 527-17-3) will be 2914.69.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for ketones and quinones, whether or not with other oxygen function, and their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated, or nitrosated derivatives: other. The rate of duty will be 5.5 percent ad valorem. Pursuant to U.S. Note 20 to Subchapter III, Chapter 99, HTSUS, products of China classified under subheading 2914.69.9000, HTSUS, unless specifically excluded, are subject to an additional 15 percent ad valorem rate of duty under 9903.88.16, HTSUS; however, this provision was suspended effective December 15, 2019, and is not currently in effect. See 84 Fed. Reg. 69,447 (December 18, 2019). The HTSUS is subject to periodic amendment, so you should exercise reasonable care in monitoring the status of goods covered by the Note cited above and the applicable Chapter 99 subheading.
