Diazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative that exerts anxiolytic, sedative, muscle-relaxant, anticonvulsant, and amnestic effects. It is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders and for the treatment of muscle spasms. The applicable subheading for the Diazepam in bulk powder form will be 2933.91.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Alprazolam (INN), … , diazepam (INN), … , tetrazepam (INN) and triazolam (INN); salts thereof.” The general rate of duty will be free.
