Midazolam in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, imported in 100 mg/100 mL and 50 mg/50 mL plastic bags, is in a class of drugs known as benzodiazepine. It is used intramuscularly or intravenously for preoperative sedation on a patient who is having minor surgery, dental work, or other medical procedure. The applicable subheading for the Midazolam in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection in dosage form will be 3004.90.9230, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Medicaments primarily affecting the central nervous system: Anticonvulsants, hypnotics and sedatives.” The rate of duty will be free.
