Colchicine, imported in 0.3 mg and 0.6 mg tablets, is an alkaloid obtained from the plant colchicum autumnale with anti-gout and anti-inflammatory activities. It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of acute gout flares. The applicable subheading for the Colchicine Tablets in dosage form will be 3004.49.0070, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other, containing alkaloids or derivatives thereof: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
