Pilocarpine Hydrochloride, imported in 5 mg and 7.5 mg tablets, is a vegetable alkaloid derivative used as an antiglaucoma and cholinergic (ophthalmic) drug. It is indicated for the treatment of radiation-induced dry mouth (xerostomia) and symptoms of dry mouth in patients with Sjögrens syndrome. The applicable subheading for the Pilocarpine Hydrochloride Tablets in dosage form will be 3004.49.0060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments ... consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other, containing alkaloids or derivatives thereof: Other: Other: Medicaments primarily affecting the eyes, ears or respiratory system.” The rate of duty will be free.
