The subject product is a chemical product called 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (CAS # 124-68-5). It is also know as 2-Aminoisobutanol. You indicate that it will be used as a co-dispersant for pigments. It will be imported in bulk form. The applicable subheading for the 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol will be 2922.19.9690, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for which provides for “Oxygen-function amino-compounds:Amino-alcohols, other than those containing more than one kind of oxygen function, their ethers and esters; salts thereof: Other…Other.” The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
