Dear Ms. Schulz: In your letter dated February 12, 2014 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Seaboard International, Inc. The products under consideration are various steel gate valve bodies which will be imported in either a forged or machined condition. You indicate that Seaboard will use these valve bodies to manufacture gate valves which are utilized in the oil and gas industry. The method of actuation (e.g. hand operated, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, etc.) for the valves is unknown at the time of importation and will be determined in accordance with customer specifications. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
