Product description
The product to be imported is described as round solid alloy steel bars. They measure in size from 4 inches to 11.25 inches in outside diameter and approximately 31 feet in length. These solid alloy steel bars are produced by hot continuous casting, and then are cold rolled, machined, heat treated and straightened. Mill test certificates submitted state the material is made to comply with ASTM A-370 and A-388 standards and API 7-1 specifications. Chemistries shown on the mill certificates are consistent with the definition of other alloy steel in Chapter 72, Note 1(f), Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTSUS). After importation, a specific diameter bore will be made by drilling the bars and the ends will be finished with pin and box threaded connections. The bars will ultimately be manufactured into drill collars, pup joints and other products used in drilling operations in the oil and gas industry.
