Dear Ms. Roebke: In your letter dated June 13, 2012, on behalf of your client Andis Company, you requested a tariff classification ruling. A representative sample was provided with your request and will be returned to you. The product to be imported is the 1” Curved Edge titanium flat iron, model CSV-1E-D. This electrically heated product features 30 second heat-up, 20 variable heat settings with a maximum heat of 450 degrees, world wide dual voltage and locking switch. Its curved edges allow the flat iron to be used for both straightening and/or creating soft curls, waves and flips. The applicable subheading for the 1” Curved Edge titanium flat iron will be 8516.32.0040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other electrothermic hairdressing apparatus. The rate of duty will be 3.9 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
