White Street Fort Mill, SC 29715 RE: The tariff classification of a hand knotted rug from Nepal Dear Ms. Jackson: In your letter dated August 30, 2011 you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Espacio Sami Hayek. You will be importing a hand knotted rug. A schematic and pictures of the rug in lieu of a sample were submitted with your request. The rug is stated to be made from 60 percent silk and 40 percent wool yarns. It will be imported in 101-inch diameter rounds and 144 x 105 inch sizes. You note that the rugs will contain 150 knots per inch and submitted photographs of the rug on the loom. The applicable subheading for the rug will be 5701.90.1010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for carpets and other textile floor coverings, knotted, whether of not made up: of other textile materials: with pile inserted and knotted during weaving or knitting…hand knotted.
