In your letter, you suggest a tariff classification of 1212.20.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), the provision for seaweeds and other algae. Based on the ingredients and method of preparation, they will be classified elsewhere.

Four samples, submitted with your October letter, were examined and disposed of. Additional information was provided with your second letter. “Frozen Salted Seaweed Stem” and “Salted Seaweed Stem” consist of shredded seaweed, with added salt, frozen, packed in sealed plastic pouches for retail sale, containing 400 grams, net weight and 300 grams, net weight, respectively. “Frozen Salted Kelp” and “Salted Kelp” consist of seaweed, cut to pieces in different sizes, with added salt, frozen, packed in sealed plastic pouches for retail sale, containing 400 grams, net weight and 300 grams, net weight, respectively.
