Dear Mr. Hegeman: In your letter dated August 25, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample is referred to as a pellicle. You have stated it is made of Polymer film attached by gluing it to an aluminum frame. The pellicle is used in the photolithography step in the manufacturing of microelectronic “chips.” It is placed on top of photomasks to prevent contamination reaching the critical section of the photomask surface and prevent silicon wafer defect.
