Box 1028 Gonzales, Louisiana 70707 RE: The tariff classification of an infant’s hat from China. Dear Ms. Mayard: In your letter dated July 10, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample will be returned to you. The submitted sample is an infant’s brim hat made of 100 % woven brushed polyester fabric with SPF 50+ to block sun rays. The hat has approximately a 3 ¼ inch brim and two self tie chin straps. The applicable subheading for the infant’s brim hat will be 6505.90.8045, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Hats and other headgear, knitted or crocheted, or made up from lace, felt or other textile fabric…Other: Other: Of man-made fibers: Other: Not in part of braid, Other: For babies." The rate of duty will be 18.7 cents /kg + 6.8% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
