Hobart Blvd. Gardena, CA 90248 RE: The tariff classification of unwrought aluminum from China. Dear Ms. Park: In your letter dated October 29, 2008 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The product to be imported is described as primary unwrought aluminum. Comprised of 99.71% aluminum and produced by a continuous casting process, these rectangular shaped pieces are imported for remelting. They will ultimately be used in the production of aluminum alloys and aluminum billets. The applicable subheading for the unwrought aluminum will be 7601.10.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for unwrought aluminum, aluminum, not alloyed, other. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
