Dear Ms. Ramsey: In your letter dated July 2, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The photograph provided with your letter depicts a product identified as a monitor stand, SKU #66480. The stand is composed primarily of ABS plastic and has steel legs. It is designed to fit over and around a computer monitor to provide a storage shelf above the monitor. A slide-out drawer below the shelf has 19 slots for DVDs and CDs. The monitor stand adjusts from 15 inches to 20 inches in height, and can accommodate monitors up to 14 ½ inches in width. The applicable subheading for the monitor stand storage shelf will be 3926.10.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other articles of plastics…office or school supplies. The rate of duty will be 5.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
