Dear Mr. Shea: In your letter dated February 27, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You have submitted photographs of a bookcase headboard and footboard, both made of wood. The bookcase headboard comes in a stand alone style as well as ones that have either brackets or pre-drilled holes for connection to a metal frame or standard rails that match the headboard and footboard. The applicable subheading for the stand alone bookcase headboard will be 9403.50.9080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Wooden furniture of a kind used in the bedroom, Other, Other”. The rate of duty will be free. The applicable subheading for the headboard bookcase and footboard that connects to a frame or rail will be 9403.90.7000, HTSUS, which provides for “Parts of furniture, Other, Of wood”. The rate of duty will be free. All of your items may be subject to antidumping duties.
