Dear Mr. Lee: In your letter dated December 7, 2007, on behalf of Daewoo Int’l (America) Corp., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The item you plan to import is described as a flat-rolled product in coil form used for automotive body and chassis. This hot-rolled, non-alloy steel coil has been pickled and oiled. It measures 3.4 mm in thickness, 1524 mm in width and has a minimum yield point of 510MPa. The applicable subheading for the non-alloy steel coil will be 7208.26.0030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, of a width of 600 mm or more, hot-rolled, not clad, plated or coated, other, in coils, not further worked than hot-rolled, pickled, of a thickness of 3 mm or more but less than 4.75 mm, high-strength steel. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
